BAIS Virtual Conference – May 2020

Building on the success of our Irish Studies Research Day, we are delighted to announce our very first virtual conference. During the month of May, BAIS will facilitate an online month-long Irish Studies ‘Conference’ on Twitter. We welcome speakers from anywhere in the world, at any stage of their careers, on any topic as long as it is related to Ireland or the Irish diaspora.

We ask that during this period you upload to Twitter a presentation marked with the hashtag #BAISConf2020 and our Twitter handle @BAIrishStudies. You can use any presentation tools you like – Periscope, Youtube, a poster of your research, choose whichever one you are confident using that makes your content available. We will share all presentations via our Twitter account that are appropriate for our Irish Studies community.

We also ask that you make an effort, if you post a paper, to ask questions of other speakers. Even if you’re not presenting, we welcome interactions with the presenters (as long as they are constructive and courteous).

While there is no fee for the conference you might, if you can afford it, consider supporting our activities in this difficult time by becoming a member. We offer Associate Membership for our friends around the world.
