A Brief History of Irish Song, pre-1800

Moyra Haslett, Professor or Eighteenth-century and Romantic period literature at Queen’s University Belfast, will present a paper on “A Brief History of Irish Song, pre-1800”. Her most recent project has been on the AHRC-funded “Historical Typology of Irish Song”, as part of which she has been editing The Oxford Handbook of Irish Song, 1100-1850 with Professor Lillis O’Laoire and Dr Conor Caldwell. The volume comprises 39 chapters covering the diversity of Irish song pre-1850. This paper will introduce the work of the volume.
